What is a sadaqah sacrifice?
A sadaqah sacrifice is an animal given in charity outside the days of Eid al-Adha. It is voluntary - not an obligation - and the meat goes to families for whom meat is a rare thing. People give one in gratitude for something good, on behalf of someone living or someone who has passed away, or to fulfil a vow they made.

When would someone give one?
- In gratitude - after recovery from illness, a new job, a safe journey, or any blessing you want to thank Allah for.
- On behalf of someone else - living or deceased. Enter their name when you give and it is carried with the sacrifice.
- To fulfil a vow - if you promised an animal in charity, this discharges it.
- Simply as sadaqah - no occasion needed. Voluntary charity is encouraged at any time.

You choose the number of animals and the country.
Our teams in Uganda, Yemen or Pakistan purchase and slaughter the animal according to Islamic requirements.
The meat is distributed fresh to widows, orphans and the poorest households.
Sadaqah Sacrifice FAQs
Is a sadaqah sacrifice obligatory?
No. It is entirely voluntary. Obligatory sacrifices are different - Qurbani at Eid al-Adha, and the expiations covered on our kaffarah page.
Can I give it for someone who has passed away?
Many scholars hold that the reward of charity given on behalf of the deceased reaches them. Enter their name when you give and it is carried with the sacrifice.
Is this the same as Qurbani?
No. Qurbani is the sacrifice of Eid al-Adha and can only be performed on those specific days. A sadaqah sacrifice can be given at any time of year.
How is it different from aqiqah?
Aqiqah is specifically for the birth of a child. The animal, price and process are the same - the intention is what differs.
