Read MoreMost charities selling a "well in someone's name" are selling a future: dig a borehole, wait months, hope. Aid For Mankind's desalination plant in Gaza is already running. Water given in your loved one's name starts reaching thirsty families now - and by Allah's permission, the reward starts reaching them now too.

When Sa'd ibn Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) lost his mother while he was away from her, he went to the Prophet ﷺ and asked which charity would be best to give on her behalf. Water was named. So he dug a well and said: "This is for Umm Sa'd."
It is reported in Sunan Abi Dawud that Sa'd asked: "Which charity is best?" He was told: "Water."
Fourteen centuries later, water remains the sadaqah jariyah families choose first.
And the reason it is called ongoing charity is in the famous narration reported in Sahih Muslim: when a person dies, their deeds end except three - an ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who prays for them. Flowing water is the plainest picture of ongoing charity there is: drink after drink, day after day.
Gaza's groundwater is largely too contaminated and too saline to drink - a well dug into it cannot deliver clean water. What works is desalination: taking water the ground cannot give and making it clean.
Our desalination plant is producing clean water in Gaza right now - not a project waiting to break ground. When you give in a loved one's name, you are not funding a hope. You are keeping real water flowing to real families, today, with their name on the intention.

Or any amount from £5 - and monthly giving turns one gift into ongoing sadaqah jariyah, month after month. Add their name when you give and the gift is given on their behalf; the intention is what makes the sadaqah theirs.
Prefer the full picture of giving for someone who has passed - the evidence, the questions, the other options? Read our complete guide to sadaqah for the deceased.
Choose the amount, write their name, and their kindness continues.
In their name
When Sa'd ibn Ubadah lost his mother, he asked the Prophet ﷺ what he could still do for her - and dug a well in her name (reported in Sunan Abi Dawud). Fourteen centuries later, families still do the same.
Each child here has lost their father. Your gift supports our orphan care programme in Gaza - it directly benefits the child you choose, along with their siblings and the children in their care network.
Your gift is given in their name - a place where their kindness lives on.

It is the same intention - Sa'd's well, made practical for Gaza. Gaza's groundwater is largely undrinkable, so a traditional well cannot deliver clean water there. Our desalination plant does what the well was always for: clean water, flowing, in their name.
Yes, by Allah's permission. Charity on behalf of the deceased is established - a man asked the Prophet ﷺ whether his late mother would benefit if he gave charity for her, and the answer reported in Sahih al-Bukhari was "Yes." The full evidence is on our sadaqah for the deceased guide.
Add their name when you give. Your gift is given on their behalf, and the reward is written for them, by Allah's permission. The intention itself is what makes the sadaqah theirs.
Yes - and monthly giving is the closest thing to Sa'd's well: sadaqah jariyah that renews itself, month after month, in their name.
Aid For Mankind operates a strict 100% donation policy - every penny goes to the work. The plant runs, the water flows, and UK taxpayers can add Gift Aid at no cost to themselves.
Yes - a friend, a teacher, a neighbour, anyone. The texts on charity for the deceased are not limited to family.
