Who we are

Aid For Mankind UK is a UK registered charity (Charity No. 1202015) based at 6 Carrs Road, Cheadle, Cheshire, SK8 2EE. We deliver humanitarian aid to communities in need. This policy explains what personal information we collect through our website, aidformankind.com, why we collect it, and how we look after it.

If you have any questions about this policy or your personal data, contact us at info@aidformankind.com or on 07946 521 158.

What information we collect

When you donate through our website we collect your name, billing address, email address, telephone number (if provided), and details of your donation (amount, cause and whether it is a one-off or regular gift). If you create an account, we store your account details so you can view your donation history. If you contact us through our contact form, by email or by phone, we keep a record of that correspondence.

Card payments

Card payments on this website are processed securely by Stripe. Your card details are sent directly to Stripe over an encrypted connection and are never stored on our website or seen by our staff. You can read how Stripe handles your data in the Stripe Privacy Policy. If you set up a regular donation, Stripe securely stores your payment method so future payments can be taken as you have instructed. You can cancel a regular donation at any time by contacting us.

Gift Aid

If you make a Gift Aid declaration, we are required to collect your name and home address to identify you as a UK taxpayer, and we share this information with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) to claim Gift Aid on your donations. HMRC requires us to keep Gift Aid records for at least six years.

How we use your information

We use your information to process your donations and provide receipts, to administer Gift Aid claims, to respond to your enquiries, to keep proper accounting records as required by law, and to keep our website secure. We will only send you marketing or fundraising updates if you have asked us to, and you can opt out at any time.

Legal bases

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR), we rely on the following legal bases: performance of a contract when processing your donation; legal obligation for Gift Aid, accounting and charity regulation records; legitimate interests in administering the charity and keeping our website secure; and consent where you have opted in to hear from us.

Who we share your information with

We never sell your personal information. We share it only with: Stripe (payment processing); HMRC (Gift Aid claims); and the service providers who host our website and email systems, who may only use it to provide those services to us. Videos on our website are delivered by a content delivery network which may record technical information such as your IP address in order to serve the video.

Cookies

Our website uses essential cookies only. These keep your donation basket working, remember your session during checkout, and help our pages load quickly. We do not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. If this changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where required.

How long we keep your information

Donation and accounting records are kept for seven years as required by UK law. Gift Aid declarations and related records are kept for at least six years as required by HMRC. Correspondence is kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct it, to ask us to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to ask for it in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, email info@aidformankind.com. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Children

Our website is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
