Gift Aid Boost Your Donation
Gift Aid is reclaimed by the charity from the tax you pay for the current tax year. Your address is needed to identify you as a current UK taxpayer.
I want to Gift Aid my donation and any donations I make in the future or have made in the past 4 years to Aid For Mankind. I am a UK taxpayer and understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year, it is my responsibility to pay any difference.
Last updated: Saturday 5 September 2026. If you want to help people in Gaza right now, this page sets out what is needed most, an honest picture of whether aid is getting in, and how to give safely from the UK.
In short
- Clean water, cancer and chronic-disease medicines, and winter shelter materials are the most urgent needs cited in 2026 reporting.
- Aid access into Gaza has been inconsistent through 2026, with crossings intermittently open rather than reliably open.
- Before giving to any appeal, check the charity is registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (or the equivalent regulator), and give through the charity's own verified website.
- Aid For Mankind is a Registered UK Charity, No. 1202015, operating a 100% donation policy.
What is needed most right now
Water. Around 90% of Gaza's population reported frequent, unpredictable disruptions to safe drinking, cooking and hygiene water in early July 2026, rising to 92% in Gaza City. Around 75% of the population still relied on trucked water as their primary drinking source at the end of July 2026, and UN agency reporting through 2026 has repeatedly named clean water and desalination fuel and spare parts as a priority need (Al Jazeera, 1 September 2026).
Medicine. Cancer and chronic-disease medicines have been named as a priority need through 2026 reporting. At Gaza's Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, cancer and haematology drug shortages reached around 61%, with cancer medicines reported completely exhausted after two of the hospital's four medicine warehouses were destroyed in early August 2026 (Peninsula Qatar / QNA, 1 August 2026).
Shelter. Winter shelter materials, including tents, tarpaulins and bedding, remain a stated priority. Around 1.5 million Palestinians have had their homes destroyed, and Gaza's population faced a third consecutive winter of widespread displacement in worn-out tents that tear easily in rain and wind (UN News, January 2026; New Arab feature, winter 2025-26 reporting). Between 4 and 10 February 2026, the Shelter Cluster reached almost 5,500 households with 1,730 tents and 1,420 tarpaulins, though distributions had fallen due to lengthy approval processes and access restrictions (OCHA Situation Report No. 67).
Is aid actually getting in?
The honest answer is: inconsistently. Crossings such as Kerem Shalom and the Rafah crossing have both been used at various points in 2026 for aid entry, with openings, closures and gradual reopenings reported through the year. We do not have a reliable, specific figure for how many aid trucks are entering Gaza on any given day in early September 2026, and we are not going to guess one. What the pattern documented through 2026 shows clearly is that crossings have been intermittently open, and aid flow has been inconsistent, rather than steady and predictable.
This is exactly why Aid For Mankind's own Gaza water response is built the way it is: a desalination plant already operating inside Gaza, rather than a supply chain that depends on a border crossing opening on a given day.
How to give safely from the UK
The UK Charity Commission and the Fundraising Regulator have jointly urged the public to give safely to help people affected by the crisis in the Middle East: donate to registered charities with direct experience working in Gaza and other conflict zones, and be alert to fraudulent fundraisers exploiting public generosity. UK Government guidance takes the same line, directing the public to registered charities experienced in working in Gaza.
A practical safe-giving checklist, drawn from that guidance:
- Check the charity is registered. Look it up on the Charity Commission for England and Wales register (or the equivalent regulator for Scotland or Northern Ireland) before you give.
- Give through the charity's own verified website or established payment channels, rather than an unsolicited link sent by message or social media.
- Be wary of social media appeals that cannot show a registered charity number or clear organisational details.
- Use Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer. Gift Aid lets a registered charity reclaim the tax you have already paid on your donation, at no extra cost to you, adding 25p for every £1 you give.
Aid For Mankind is a Registered UK Charity, No. 1202015, and operates a 100% donation policy: money given through our appeals is not used to cover running or admin costs.
What Aid For Mankind does in Gaza
Rather than a well, which the ground in Gaza cannot support (the UN has reported around 97% of Gaza's groundwater is contaminated and unsafe to drink), Aid For Mankind operates a desalination plant that is already producing clean drinking water inside Gaza. Around 90% of Gaza's population reports frequent, unpredictable disruptions to safe water, according to a UN-cited survey reported in September 2026. Donations to our Gaza Water Appeal fund the practical chain that gets that water to families: production at the plant, trucking, fuel and delivery, under our 100% donation policy.
Aid For Mankind also runs an Orphans of Palestine appeal, supporting orphans and their families in Gaza with essentials such as food, clothing, healthcare and shelter, through monetary assistance and materials distributed on the ground.
