Sponsor an Orphan in Gaza – 7 Children Who Need You Right Now

There are words we use when we talk about Gaza that have become almost too familiar. Crisis. Conflict. Displacement. Humanitarian emergency. We hear them so often that somewhere along the way, they stopped meaning what they used to mean.

But behind every one of those words is a child. A real child, with a name, with a favourite thing, with a mother trying to hold it all together in a tent or a shelter with whatever she has left.

At Aid For Mankind, we know seven of those children by name. We have their photographs. We know when their fathers were martyred. We know where they are sleeping tonight.

And we are asking you – right now, today – to sponsor one of them.

Who are these children?

Ali Muhammad Al-Assar is 3 years old. He lives in Mawasi, Khan Yunis, in a tent. His father was martyred on the 27th of February 2024. He is three years old. He does not fully understand what has happened. His sister Aseel is 5. She is beginning to.

Noha Muhammad Khaled Al-Amsi is 6 years old. Her father was martyred on the 7th of October 2023 – the first day of the assault on Gaza. She has spent more than a year growing up without him. Her sister Maryam is 5. Maryam was 2 years old when she lost her father. She may not remember him at all.

Muhammad Osama Abu Mustafa was born on the 21st of January 2023. He is barely a year old. His father was martyred on the 1st of October 2024. He is being raised by his mother Hala in the middle of an ongoing humanitarian catastrophe.

Taim Muhammad Al-Hattab is 6 years old. His father Muhammad was martyred on the 17th of July 2024. His mother Reem is raising him alone.

Hala Talat Mahmoud Tabasi is 7 years old – the oldest of the seven. Her father was martyred on the 22nd of October 2023. She has carried that weight for well over a year while the world around her has continued to deteriorate.

Seven children. Seven fathers taken. Seven families surviving on food aid, donated supplies, and the determination of mothers who refuse to give up.

What does orphan sponsorship through Aid For Mankind actually do?

When you sponsor one of these children, your monthly contribution of £60 – just £2 a day – goes directly towards providing that child with food, clothing, hygiene supplies, healthcare, and educational support.

Not towards our running costs. Not towards administration. Not towards staff salaries.

Aid For Mankind operates a 100% donation policy. Every penny you donate goes directly to the people it is meant for. Our operational costs are covered separately so that your sponsorship reaches the child in full.

We are a UK registered charity – Charity No. 1202015 – and we are fully accountable to the Charity Commission. You can verify our registration at any time.

Why sponsoring an orphan in Gaza specifically matters

There are many ways to give to Gaza. You can donate to food appeals, medical aid funds, emergency relief campaigns. All of it is needed and all of it saves lives.

But orphan sponsorship is different. When you sponsor a child, you are not contributing to a general fund that gets distributed across thousands of people. You are committing to one child, by name, for as long as you choose to sponsor them. That child’s family knows that someone has chosen them. That someone cares enough to give every single month.

In Islamic tradition, the one who sponsors an orphan is promised closeness to the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, in Jannah. The hadith narrated by Sahl ibn Sa’d in Sahih Al-Bukhari describes the sponsor of an orphan and the Prophet as being like two fingers – close, inseparable.

Orphan sponsorship is one of the most beloved acts in Islam. It combines sadaqah jariyah – ongoing charity – with a direct, personal commitment to a vulnerable child. The reward does not end when the month ends. It continues for as long as the child benefits from your support.

How to sponsor an orphan in Gaza today

There are 7 children and 7 sponsorship places. Each child needs one person to step forward.

The monthly cost is £60 per child – £2 a day. You can sponsor for one month or commit to an ongoing monthly sponsorship. We recommend monthly sponsorship so the child has consistent, reliable support rather than a one-off contribution.

UK donors can also add Gift Aid to their donation at no extra cost, allowing Aid For Mankind to reclaim an additional 25p from HMRC for every £1 you donate.

Use the sponsorship form on this page to choose a child and begin your sponsorship today. If you have any questions, contact us at info@aidformankind.com or call 07946 521 158.
